Importing From India
Over 300 Product Lines |
Buy Direct from the Manufacturers

|
Not many people source directly from manufacturers and import from overseas as they are daunted by the whole process. The prices they end up paying to wholesalers drastically erode their profit margins and can jeopardise their whole business. We will take you through this whole buying process. We aim to make sourcing and importing easy for you, so you build a robust and highly profitable business.
We are going to prove to you how easy it is to do all your own sourcing, negotiating and importing from India. Most people are put off by a fear of the unknown, which is why they continue buying from wholesalers and internet suppliers in the UK with such poor margins. Buying direct, you cut out the middlemen and with such good sales margins, you can expand your business model to include wholesaling. |
High Sales Margins
You can realistically expect profit margins of 300% to 800%. When you consider that there are many retailers that operate with only 100% profit margins, then you can understand how extraordinary this is.
It is well worth explaining exactly what we mean by good sales margins. If you buy a product for £1 and you have an additional £1 in direct costs (taxes, shipping etc.), then the total net cost to you is £2. If you are selling for £6 then you have a 300% margin on the net price (not the gross price, otherwise the margin would be 600%).
Margins can rise to 1000% on items like jewellery. We provide a more detailed analysis and real examples of these profit margins in the information pack. |

The Convenience of the International Fair

|
At the International Fair in Delhi, manufacturers conveniently come together from all across India, saving months of travelling and allowing instant comparisons of quality and price. It is well attended by retailers from the US but very few UK retailers. UK companies such as Laura Ashley, Zara, Accessorize, Conran, Habitat, Marks & Spencer, Graham & Green, John Lewis, Liberty and Harrods attend but not the smaller retailers that would most benefit.
We organise priority entry to the Fair and will be on hand to pass on our experience, highlight the potential pitfalls and guide you through the whole process so that you make good buying decisions. |
Personal Introductions
We will introduce you to the manufacturers we know, that have proven to be very reliable and of consistently high quality. We are not suggesting that you should limit yourself to our recommendations but they offer excellent prices and quality and are a good starting point to test your product mix. They will also provide an important standard against which you can compare other producers.
Equally as important, as part of a collective group of buyers, we have considerable purchasing power. Just the idea that we might collectively withdraw our business can be a powerful incentive to ensure deadlines are met and quality remains consistent. |

|
Quality and India
 |
We found many people have a misconception of what India has to offer. Modern India produces modern products. Take some time to browse through the different product pages here and you will see a sample of the enormous range available.
You can have almost anything made in India. India has definitely moved into the 21st century and is producing for its sophisticated international customers and not just for its home market and tourists.
The quality of workmanship is unmatched elsewhere in Asia. Manufacturing in India is not mass production, it tends to be smaller family run businesses that have retained highly skilled cratsmen and artisans. |
The Export And Import Business
- We will introduce you to specialist international freight forwarders to ship your products safely back to the UK at low cost, taking advantage of special routing discounts and minimal duty and taxes
- You will also be introduced to specialist buying agents that will ensure your goods are consolidated, packed and despatched efficiently and carefully
- We will take you through the whole process, the paperwork and terminology so you understand exactly what is happening and how to continue importing successfully in the future
|

Is This A Good Time To Launch A Retail Business?

UK Base Rate Trends |
Interest rates are currently at their lowest levels for decades, so keeping money on deposit is no longer a prudent option for investors, making the cost/benefit analysis of investing in a new venture highly attractive
Commercial property leases have fallen dramatically in price, so one of the major costs for most new businesses – premises, now offers real value for money. By the end of 2009, commercial property leases are expected to be half what they were at the end of 2007. If you're paying half of what the business next door is locked in to paying, then you have a real competitive advantage.
Despite all the negative press commentary, UK inflation is at its lowest level in decades, making the economic environment highly favourable for new businesses. |
For those with capital available to invest in their own enterprise the conditions in 2010 could scarcely be more encouraging.
You are looking at 300%+ margins on your products. Combine that with a lower lease costs and you will be more competitive than 98% of the other retailers on the high street.
87% of new businesses go bust in the first three years, because they fail to control their finances. Last year saw that amount increase. As these inefficient businesses go, they will leave a hole in the market that you will be filling.
|
UK Retail Sales
Year on year, the volume of retail sales in October 2009 was 3.4 per cent higher than in October 2008.

Volume of retail sales, all retailers, seasonally adjusted
There are 29 million working people in the UK, if a million of them lose their jobs of have their working hours cut back then this accounts for about 3.5 % of the total workforce. These people are unlikely to be spending much on non-essentials.
However, many people have the same jobs and income but their mortgage payments have reduced, so in many respects they are better off. These people are still affected by the overall sentiment and as a result some of their spending power is being redirected into savings. Not good for retailers right now, especially those running with smaller sales margins, but if you think a year ahead, when growth is expected to return, it may well prove to be a good time to launch a retail business.
Also, by next year, the less efficient retailers with poor margins will have disappeared, reducing the competition for new businesses entering the market.
If you start planning now and join us in October, you would reasonably expect your merchandise to be delivered by February, which would give you a store opening date sometime in March 2010; with few certain investments out there right now, it could prove a very smart move.
Visit the UK government's website for a complete economic review and full statistics for retail sales.

Shipping, Importing & Exchange Rates |
 |
Shipping costs from India to the UK are now the cheapest they have ever been. This, in part, offsets the current poorer exchange rate between the Indian rupee and British pound.
We have allowed for the exchange rates and shipping costs in all of our calculations of sales margins. Importing from India will continue to generate high margins even if the crude oil rate doubles and the pound collapses to half its current value. Predicitons expect the crude oil price (which is a big cost for shipping) to eventually settle somewhere around $60 - $70 per barrel and the British pound to improve on its current level, so our business model should remain strong for the next decade at least. |

We can introduce you to tried and trusted contacts in India from manufacturers and buying agents to government agencies.

What People Say About The Fair
 |
Alexander Becerra, Drakgon Group, Venezuela:
“We don't source from any other country but India. I've bought lamps, flower vases and silver jewellery for our wholesale business. My experience of the Fair is first class and meets international standards! " |
Angelo Luoni and Laura Luoni Cardano, Al Campo, Italy:
"We are retailers looking for furniture, handicrafts, clay items and wooden products. The Fair is big and interesting. Products have a fresh look. Facilities are on a par with other international events." |
 |
 |
Kiyotaka Twiga, Tokyo, Japan:
"This is my third visit and I find it even better this time. I got new and good designs in accessories and shawls for my wholesale business. Must say that quality is very nice." |
Meratish and Linda Brisbane, Australia :
"We are setting up a wholesale store in Australia and are here to look for ideas. Found a few already. Among products, Indian bags and furniture are popular in Australia. We are also looking to source homeware and bedspreads in particular." |
 |
 |
Tarsem Wood Retailer, Ambiance, UK:
"This is my maiden visit and I am here to look for home furnishings. I have found several new nice products. Among Indian favourites in UK are sequin bags, shawls and most Indian cottons. For the coming season in my market, smooth & soft autumn colours are being appreciated. The fair is well organized” |
Vicky Commaide Elite Publishing Co., Australia:
"I am overwhelmed. Products are a perfect blend of old & new and traditional & funky designs. Australia is a country with varied cultures and home furnishings from India are often hot-sellers there. I really liked the natural cottons, silk and leather curtains and bed covers. Among other products, fashion jewellery and clothing is fascinating. India can easily cater to the high & medium end Australian market” |
 |
 |
Yousuf Al Rayes & Suhair Al Rayes Bahrain :
"We have ventured for the first time but are highly satisfied as we could get value for money. Mainly bought cushions in bright colours and aluminium plates for our showroom. Facilities are good and people very cordial. We would definitely be here next time and possibly increase our sourcing." |
The Value Of Our Package
A franchise would typically cost you somewhere between £7,000 and £200,000 plus an annual cut of your profits just to buy in, before any setup costs and stock purchases. If the franchise operator goes out of business, so do you, through no fault of your own and over a ten year period half of them do.
Buying an existing business is expensive. We estimate that a profitable three year old retail outlet based on our business model would be worth upwards of £300,000.
Why pay someone else when you can do it yourself and profit at the same time?
We believe this really offers spectacular value for money when you consider all of the advantages you will have over other ways of launching a retail business. You could do this yourself but it could end up costing you a lot more than you imagined.
Mistakes can be costly (many thousands of pounds) and jeopardise any business in its early stages. We will minimise those mistakes so that you avoid paying big fees to customs and excise for storing your products while paperwork is put right or having to pay for extra shipping containers because volumes were miscalculated or finding your products are damaged in transit.
Most importantly, we will show you where you can find quality and value so that you don't waste your investment capital.
Successful retail business owners don't give away their knowledge, which is why this is the first and currently the only opportunity of this kind.
Just to recap:
- 10 day trip to India with all introductions, travel and accommodation
- Company incorporation in the UK, business visas to India
- Full training in the retail import business
- Retail/wholesale website designed and built (free domain registration and hosting for 1 year)
- 6 months inclusive consultancy
- A complete retail business model to get your business running with excellent sales margins
Until the end of August we have reduced the cost of the package because of the current economic conditions.
Instead of the regular £8,270 the total cost is now only £6,970
